Using googles SketchUp found at http://sketchup.google.com i have a full 3d model of the space to be. It has allowed me to separate, by layers, the framing, the backer board and the tile.
Ill post some pictures of the model later.
Problem one:
The existing bathroom was livable for my early home upgrading. Here are two pictures one of the toilet rooms door open and one of it closed. The door on the right opens into the hall and is only about 6 inches from the door into the up stairs master. The three doors all overlap and make entering and moving arround cumbersome. For this little cramping problem I will be removing the portion of the wall the door is on and from there to the main wall. This is best shown in the picture furthest right.
Problem two:
Carpet in a bathroom... enough said.
Problem three:
To the left of the offending shower room is the shower. It is a single piece fiberglass garden tub. Its plain white with very basic hardware and is inconveniently only as wide as a door. As the space is big enough for a 3'x5' full size tile shower but not a sliding glass shower door, I will add a partial wall.
